Outdoor Showers May Be the Ultimate in Showering Luxury!

One might think of a garden bathroom as a bathroom that overlooks a garden, but imagine an outdoor shower surrounded by luxurious and lush flowering plants. One might think of an outdoor shower as a rinsing area after spending time in a pool, basically as a rinsing station to remove the chlorine from the skin. One also might think that showering outdoors is something done when camping in the woods. A camping shower, usually created ‘off-the-cuff’ based on the vegetation and terrain, is a simple as the black water bag with attached hose suspended by an overhead tree branch, the tarp shower curtain and the portable wood skid shower floor, which is often much better than forest floor. For anyone that’s tried it, it can be a refreshing experience. Imagine though, a shower as more than a chlorine rinsing station or camping shower; imagine your own delightful private outdoor shower surrounded by lush plants, perhaps this is the ultimate garden bathroom. As AZ custom home builders, the actual construction of an outdoor shower may not be any more or less difficult than any other shower. If a master bathroom has its own private exterior door to the back yard, the perfect outdoor shower can be created just a few steps from that door, into your own outdoor oasis. To create such an area, a shower stall is constructed with masonry walls creating a private enclosure and a drainage area. The privacy walls can be painted, lined with wood or finished in tile. The plumbing fixtures are placed on the exterior wall of the home, or in the privacy wall depending on the shape of the shower stall. The shower may include multiple sprays, such as overhead rain shower head, and/or a standard shower head. Imagine stepping outside of your master bathroom into a small changing area, then stepping into an absolute dream outdoor shower. Arizona has beautiful plants that can surround the exterior sides of the privacy walls, bougainvillea are some of the most colorful Arizona plants and may work well to hide the privacy walls of the shower. Bougainvilleas are fast growing and can grow quite high if not trimmed back. There is an allure of an outdoor shower constructed with privacy walls, then covered with lush flowering plants to create a beautiful, discreet and nearly hidden garden bathroom.
