The open concept kitchen has been around for quite some time. Its popularity hasn’t waned. In fact, it used to be that formal entry ways hid the kitchen and all utilitarian sections of the home. That is why the FORMAL living room and FORMAL dining room were usually the only two rooms visible from the formal front entryway. Not so much anymore, as many of the formal areas of the house have disappeared. Today, you may enter a house and see everything, your view could literally go forty feet to the back or side of a house. You may enter into a great room, look left or right and see the kitchen, family room and even further still to a game or entertainment room. Homes have more useful spaces, and when we entertain, more times than not it is in the family room, gathering room, game room, back patio, and even the kitchen. Kitchens are becoming as beautiful as formal areas with high end finishes, open storage, wine closets, beverage center refrigerators, commercial grade ranges, large islands, and many times two islands.
